Welcome to another Monthly Scoop Post – April 2021 edition! This past month has been a busy one, but a good one! Let’s dive into the latest scoop of what’s been going on around here in the KJ & Company world, the farm and other life goodies!

April Happenings
Whew! I feel like April was a busy one. It wasn’t until I was looking back over the past month to be able to write out this post that I realized all the goodies April was packed with!
My parents officially moved into their new house they built over by the barn, which meant that we all said goodbye to the old, big house! It was the ending of a chapter that is opening up into another memory-packed one. Every one of us is excited to see what God has in store for the family at the new house! If you know my parents, this new house is so much more them and it’s the perfect fit. Fun fact: where they built the new house is where my Grandpa always intended on building when he bought the land all those years ago! To see it come to fruition and the pure joy it’s brought my parents has been so fun to watch.
April showers bring May flowers, right? Well, we may not have gotten many showers, but we did get our last dusting of snow! Otherwise, it has been HOT. Like, way too hot haha! I’m not ready for that heat yet. Just yesterday I told John that I’m already ready for Fall….and we haven’t even gotten into Summer yet haha! So, with the heat wave that we’ve been getting this past month, Charlee officially got her first shave of the year! Since she is a long-haired Jack Russell, she gets a shave a few times a year to help with the heat, ticks and other goodies she gets into out at the farm. She’s also so dang cute and tiny without all her fluff!
Ques took a beating this past month. If you follow along on Instagram, you may have seen that Amos kicked Queso in the face and clipped his hair straight off. It was swollen to the size of a baseball, poor guy! I can just imagine what that scene was like when Amos realized he kicked his brother in the face…it’s like those times where you accidentally hit your sibling and they start crying so you say “hit me!” to them before mom comes to investigate….you know what I’m talking about?? Haha! But, needless to say, the swelling is gone and the hair is starting to grow back so he’s doing much better!

Monthly Favorites
- Pillow Slides – I was looking for some supportive, comfy, slip-on shoes for my long shoot days, and these Pillow Slides fit the bill perfectly! They are my “inside” shoes, so I haven’t tested them out and about, but they are comfy!
- Little Movements Apparel – local to NE and loaded with so many fun, cute women’s athletic wear options! I’ve been loving their leggings and sports bras!
- Carhartt Bomber Jacket – even though the temps are getting warmer, I did have some days to break in my new bomber jacket and I love it! It’s the perfect weight and not too bulky. Definitely recommend sizing up one or two sizes to be able to fit hoodies/sweaters underneath.
- Godox SL200W II LED Video Light – well, I’m officially dipping my toes into artificial light! With the amount of photos I need to take, I was just plum running out of daylight. Now, with this amazing light, I can re-create the natural light and direct sunlight feel any time of day! I’m in LOVE! As a food photographer, definitely worth the investment!
