Why KJ Loves

Taco Ring

Taco Ring

I absolutely love how fun and easy this taco ring is to make! Plus, it’s a show-stopper for either a crowd or weeknight dinner with the family. Pull it apart and dig in!

Taco Ring Ingredients

Crescent Rolls

You’ll need two regular-sized cans. You can use Pillsbury crescent rolls or any other brand you like!

Ground Beef

Beef with any fat content works here since you’ll be draining the fat. If you use beef with a higher fat content, make sure to either drain the beef or transfer it to your crescent rolls using a slotted spoon to avoid a soggy taco ring.

Taco Seasoning

Use a packet from your favorite brand or make your own.

Cheese (shredded)

I like to use shredded cheddar cheese or a Mexican blend for this recipe.

Butter & Garlic Salt

You’ll brush this on top of your taco ring right before baking. This mixture adds a savory crisp to the top of your flaky crescent rolls.

How To Make a Taco Ring

1

Prep.

Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet or round pizza pan with parchment paper.

2

Create the ring shape.

Separate all the crescent rolls into triangles. Arrange the triangles in a circle on your prepared pan, with the wide ends overlapping slightly and the pointed ends facing outward.

The center should be an empty circle about 3-5 inches in diameter. It should look like a sun with rays shooting out!

3

Prepare the beef.

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain any excess fat. Add the taco seasoning and prepare according to package instructions.

4

Add the fillings.

Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the wide ends of the crescent roll ring, leaving the tips and very base of the dough exposed. Top the cheese with the seasoned taco meat.

5

Fold and seal.

Carefully fold each triangle tip over the fillings towards the inside of the circle. Tuck the tip under the base to seal. Repeat until you’ve formed a complete ring.

6

Brush and bake.

In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and garlic salt. Brush this mixture over the top of the taco ring. Bake until the ring is golden brown and crispy.

7

Wash the dishes. How sad.

How To Serve Your Taco Ring

The great thing about this taco ring is that you can serve the toppings inside the ring! It’s an easy way to make a visual impact.

Tips & Variations

  • Want a slightly richer taco ring? Add a little cream cheese into the taco meat right after it’s done browning, and stir it in until combined.
  • Use cold crescent roll dough. It’s easier to work with, and less likely to tear.
  • If you want, you can use ground chicken instead of ground beef.
  • Serving this appetizer to a crowd that likes spicy food? Add some jalapeños into the filling for a kick.

Taco Ring FAQ

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can prepare the taco meat ahead of time, but it’s best to assemble and bake the ring just before serving for the crispiest results.

How do I store leftovers?

Store any leftover taco ring in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.

Do I cook the beef before filling the ring?

Yes, to make sure it’s cooked all the way through, brown the beef on the stovetop first. Then, you can add it to the crescent roll ring.
