Do I Really Need a Recipe for Summer Fruit Salad?
You may not neeed it…But if you’re bored with the stereotypical apples-and-bananas fruit salad, you’ll want this recipe.
This fruit salad is an elevated version of a summer staple. The perfect medley of fruit is tossed with a citrusy, bright dressing that takes this dish to the next level.
Summer fruit salad tastes just peachy. Berry good. It’s a one-in-a-melon recipe. (Ok, we’re done now.)
The Best Summer Fruit
Watermelon – Cut into a fresh, red melon. Or buy it pre-cut at the grocery store. Easier to carry. Easier to prepare! You could even grab one of those mini watermelons for easier cutting and portions!
Peaches – Skin on or peeled, whichever you prefer! We love the vibrant color of the peach skins. Plus they’re high in fiber and antioxidants.
Grapes – Red or green? If you have a strong preference, go with it. But we believe there’s room for both!
Blueberries – Grab a container of fresh blueberries at your grocery store, or substitute blackberries. (You can also do both!)
Strawberries – Juicy red strawberries look gorgeous in this fruit salad.
Dressing: Orange juice, honey, lime zest – Whisk everything together for a fruit salad dressing that brightens the flavor and brings out the best in each fruit.
Mixing It Up
Don’t have all of these ingredients on hand? It’s ok to upset the fruit basket. Here are some swaps that work well with the other flavors in this summer fruit salad recipe.
- Cantaloupe
- Pineapple
- Kiwi
- Raspberries
- Blackberries
- Plums
- White peaches
- Mango
- Bananas
- Honeydew melon
Summer Fruit Salad With Mint
Tear up a few tablespoons of mint and mix it into the summer fruit salad for a refreshing, cool balance to the fruity flavors.
Time it Right
If you’re using bananas, make sure you wait until the last minute to add them in, to keep them from turning brown.
For the perfect summer fruit salad, make the recipe the day before and store the salad in the refrigerator, so all the flavors have time to mingle.
When you take the fruit salad out of the fridge, serve it right away.
