Sheet Pan Cheeseburger and Potatoes

Who doesn’t love a one-pan meal?! I love this recipe because it’s so fun and nostalgic, all while getting dinner on the table in one swoop. The perfect weeknight meal!

Sheet Pan Cheeseburger Ingredients

Ground beef

The base of the sheet pan cheeseburgers. I recommend 85/15 beef for the best results.

Egg

Adding an egg to the burger mix helps bind all of the ingredients together.

Worcestershire sauce

This adds just the right amount of tang and extra depth to the burgers.

Seasoned salt

This is a simple way to season your burger mixture without bringing out all the spice jars! I love the layers of flavor it gives.

Butter

Cooking the burgers with a pad of butter on top keeps the burgers juicy and moist while they are roasting.

Cheddar cheese

You can’t have a cheeseburger without cheese! Use slices of classic American cheese, or opt for cheddar. Or, you could go for something completely different like pepper jack, Havarti, or gouda!

Tabs of butter sitting on top of the hamburger patties before going into the oven.

Sheet Pan Potato Ingredients

Baby Yukon gold potatoes

Quarter the potatoes for quick cooking so the potatoes and the burgers are done at the same time.

Dried thyme

Tossing the potatoes in thyme gives them just the right amount of extra flavor without being overpowering.

Diced potatoes tossed with olive oil and dried thyme.

How to make cheeseburgers in the oven:

1

First, mix up the burger ingredients and form burger patties.

2

Cut up the potatoes in quarters and toss them with oil and dried thyme.

3

Put the burger patties on one side of the sheet pan (a good, heavy duty sheet pan is always a good purchase!).

4

Arrange the potatoes on the other side.

5

Cook the food for 40 minutes.

6

Once cooked, add the cheese on top of the burgers and put them back in the oven for another five minutes.

7

Serve hot!

How to Meal Prep Sheet Pan Cheeseburgers

It’s easy to meal prep portions of this meal. Prep and form the burgers in advance and store them in the refrigerator for a day or two.

Then, when you want to make this meal, all you have to do is prepare the potatoes and place them on the sheet pan with the burgers.

I don’t recommend cutting the potatoes up in advance as they can turn brown. No need to peel them, though!

Serving Sheet Pan Cheeseburgers

Use whatever kind of cheese your heart desires. Turn up the heat with some spicy pepper jack! Or, make your burgers a bit funky with some Havarti.

Serve these sheet pan cheeseburgers hot with all your favorite cheeseburger toppings! Buns, ketchup, mustard, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce—you name it!

Or go bunless. Your call.

If you want an extra bit of flavor, grab some bottles of premade sauce at the grocery store—aioli sauce, bbq sauce…have fun with it!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt, plus 1/2 teaspoon for the potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided into 4 squares
  • 1 1/2 pounds baby Yukon gold potatoes, diced into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the ground beef with the egg, Worcestershire sauce and 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt, being careful to not over-mix.
  2. Evenly divide the beef mixture into 4 parts, gently roll each portion into a ball and then flatten in between your hands to form a hamburger patty, about 1/2 inch thick. Gently indent the center of the hamburger patty so that it cooks at the same rate as the outside of the patty.
  3. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Lay the prepared hamburger patties onto the baking sheet and evenly arrange the potatoes around. Place a pad of butter on top of each hamburger.
  4. Bake for about 40 minutes, add the cheddar cheese slices on top of the hamburgers and bake for another 3-5 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately with your favorite hamburger toppings and enjoy!
