Why KJ Loves

Sheet Pan BBQ Chicken Pizza

Sheet Pan BBQ Chicken Pizza

YOU NEED THIS PIZZA IN YOUR LIFE. My husband John went as far as to say that it was the best bbq chicken pizza he’s ever had! The pickles on top are a serious game changer. Plus, this bbq chicken pizza recipe couldn’t be any easier!

All of the ingredients needed to make bbq chicken pizza.

Sheet Pan BBQ Chicken Pizza Ingredients

Pizza dough

You can choose whether you want to use store-bought dough or make your own. I love using Trader Joe’s pre-made pizza dough.

Shredded chicken

Make it easy and grab a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store! Or, roast up some boneless, skinless chicken breasts and shred them to go on top of this pizza.

BBQ sauce

The sauce you choose can drastically change the flavor profile of your pizza. Sweet. Spicy. Smoky. Choose your favorite! I love Sweet Baby Ray’s.

Cheese

Grab some mozzarella cheese and shredded cheddar cheese to make this bbq pizza extra decadent and special. You’ll end up with a dreamy, cheesy slice of pizza.

Red onion

Thinly sliced red onion bakes into the pizza to add some pizazz and color. Not a fan of onions? Leave them out!

Pickles

Pickles may not sound like the usual bbq chicken pizza topping, but trust me, they MAKE this pizza! Grab your favorite dill pickle slice – I love how fresh these ones are!

FAQs

What’s the best way to reheat leftover pizza?

Re-heat your leftover pizza under the broiler to keep your crust from getting soggy or tough in the microwave. Using an air fryer is another great way to reheat your pizza.

Should I cook chicken before baking on a pizza?

Yes, make sure your chicken is already cooked before you bake it on your bbq pizza. This helps ensure the chicken is fully cooked and safe to eat.

What temperature do you cook pizza on a sheet?

For best results, you’ll want to bake your sheet pan bbq chicken pizza at 450 degrees.

Should I preheat the baking sheet for pizza?

It’s not necessary to preheat your baking sheet before baking your bbq pizza. However, if you want to heat your baking sheet in advance, it will help create a crispier crust. Simply place the sheet pan in the oven while you’re preheating it. Be careful when you transfer your pizza to the pan!

Description

Pizza night just got easier with Sheet Pan BBQ Chicken Pizza! This saucy, zesty pizza recipe comes together quickly with a few simple ingredients.

Top your pizza crust with shredded chicken, tangy bbq sauce, and a decadent combo of mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Top with some fresh pickles, slice the bbq pizza up and dig in for a meal the whole family will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough, pre-made or homemade
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 3/4 cup, plus 2 tablespoons bbq sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Thinly sliced red onion (about 1/4 of a red onion)
  • Dill pickle slices for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Roll the pizza dough out onto a greased half sheet pan, working to fill up as much as the pan without break the dough or stretching it too thin.
  2. Evenly spread 3/4 cup of the bbq sauce on top of the prepared pizza dough. Followed by the shredded chicken, red onion slices, mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese.
  3. Drizzle the remaining bbq sauce over the top of the prepared pizza.
  4. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish with the dill pickle slices, slice, serve and enjoy!
