Let’s Talk Brownie Batter

When it comes to making these Oreo Fudge Brownies, one of the most important parts is: the brownie batter! This recipe uses my go-to Homemade Boxed Brownies recipe as the base – you can’t go wrong! If you are looking for a shortcut, use your favorite boxed brownie mix – there’s no shame in that game!

To get a crackly-top brownie, make sure you don’t skip the step of really whisking your eggs until frothy and your butter and sugars until glossy!

Ingredients You Need to Make Oreo Fudge Brownies

One of the best things about this brownie recipe (besides eating them, of course) is that all of the ingredients you need to make them are pantry ingredients! Easy to keep on hand and a long shelf life are exactly what you need.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the ingredients:

  • Butter (I always buy salted)
  • Sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla extract
  • Flour
  • Cocoa powder – I love to use this Dutch Processed Cocoa! Helps add a really deep chocolate flavor.
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Chocolate chips
  • Oreos

How to Make Oreo Fudge Brownies

First off, you whip up your brownie batter and pour half of it in the bottom of greased/lined 9×9 baking pan.

Then, you add in a flat layer of Oreo cookies! How fun is that?

Next you pour the rest of the brownie batter over the top of the Oreo cookies. Top with additional chopped Oreo cookies and chocolate chips.

Finally, you bake until perfectly fudgy and try to resist eating these when they first come out of the oven!

Want to know one of my favorite parts of these Oreo Fudge Brownies? Eating them when they are still warm and the Oreo cookie filling is allll sorts of melty and gooey…insert ALL the heart-eyed emojis! Taking a bite and getting the slight crunch from the Oreo cookie exterior, then following it up with the melty, gooey, fudgy brownie interior…you won’t be able to resist these brownies! We sure didn’t.

Description

Oreo Fudge Brownies are everything that a decadent brownie should be! Classic Oreo cookies are sandwiched in between layers of chocolate-chip loaded brownie batter and baked until perfectly fudgy. Topped with additional chocolate chips and Oreo cookies, each bite is pure brownie bliss!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sticks (16 tablespoons) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 20 Oreo cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar and brown sugar until glossy and smooth. In a separate small bowl, whisk the eggs until frothy on top. Then, whisk the eggs in with the butter and sugar mixture. This will help create the crackly brownie top. Whisk in the vanilla.
  2. Add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt and stir to combine with a rubber spatula. Fold in 1 cup of the chocolate chips. Grease and line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Pour in half of the brownie batter into the bottom of the prepared pan and smooth into an even layer. Then, evenly place about 16 of the Oreo cookies on top of the bottom brownie layer. Pour the remaining brownie batter over top and smooth to an even layer.
  4. Sprinkle the tops of the brownies with the remaining 1/4 cup of the chocolate chips. Roughly crush the remaining 4 Oreos and sprinkle to top along with the chocolate chips. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the brownie center has set and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don’t have time to make a homemade brownie batter or need a shortcut, use your favorite boxed mix!
  • Dutch processed cocoa powder is recommended as it gives a deep chocolate flavor, but regular cocoa powder will work just as fine!
  • Cool the brownies completely before covering or storing in an air-tight container.
