Description

Frosted Banana Bars – are they breakfast or dessert? You get to choose! A decadently delicious banana bread (or is it cake?) base is frosted with an ultra creamy cream cheese frosting to make pure banana bar bliss. Each bite is perfectly frosted, loaded full of delicious banana flavor and irresistible!


Ingredients

For the banana bars:

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

For the frosting:

  • 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

For the banana bars:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mash the bananas together with a fork until smooth. Whisk in the vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla extract.
  2. Add in the sugar, flour, baking soda and salt and whisk until combined. Pour into a greased 9×9 baking pan.
  3. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.

For the frosting:

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese on medium speed until creamy, about a minute. Add in one cup of powdered sugar at a time until completely combined and smooth.
  2. Evenly frost the banana bars once they have cooled completely. Cut into 9 equal-sized bars. Enjoy!
