Crispy Baked Chipotle Chicken Fingers

Crispy Baked Chipotle Chicken Fingers take you straight back to a childhood favorite meal! With a few simple steps, you can have crispy chicken fingers ready to eat! Coated with crushed potato chips, panko bread crumbs and chipotle powder, these chicken fingers are equally fun and delicious. Dip them in a homemade chipotle ranch and you are set. You can never go wrong with chicken fingers in my opinion!

What Makes These Chicken Fingers Crispy

When it comes to chicken fingers, they’ve gotta be crispy! No one likes a gummy chicken finger. Here’s what you need for a crispy coating:

  • Crushed potato chips
  • Panko bread crumbs
  • Seasonings
  • Cooking spray or olive oil

Completely covering each chicken tender with this delicious coating is the key to a crispy tender. Then, spraying with cooking spray or brushing with olive oil before baking really seals the deal. They’ll be golden brown and crispy before you know it!

How to Make Crispy Baked Chipotle Chicken Fingers

Making these chicken fingers couldn’t be more fun or simple. All you need is about 30 minutes, a few simple ingredients and a big appetite:

  • First, dredge the chicken tenders in buttermilk.
  • Then, completely coat them with the breading and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Next, spray the tops with cooking spray or brush with olive oil.
  • Lastly, bake until perfectly golden brown and crispy!

See? You’ll have homemade chicken fingers ready to go in no time!

What to Serve with these Crispy Baked Chipotle Chicken Fingers

When it comes to serving these chicken fingers, you can’t go wrong with a homemade chipotle ranch dipping sauce! While they are baking away and getting all sorts of crispy, it leaves plenty of time to whip up a quick dipping sauce! You most likely already have all of the ingredients on hand or in your cupboard:

  • Sour cream
  • Dried herbs
  • Spices
  • Heavy cream or milk

Even if you don’t make the homemade chipotle ranch dressing, the chicken fingers can be served with regular ranch, ketchup or honey mustard! Toss some french fries into the oven as well and you have a complete meal!

Growing up, chicken fingers were my main meal of choice whenever we went out to eat. I was basically 50% chicken finger lol. So, making a childhood classic in my own kitchen was so fun! Especially with this chipotle twist.

Whether you are making these chicken fingers for fun, a weeknight dinner, lunch or mid-day snack, you just can’t help but have a little fun with it!

Description

Crispy Baked Chipotle Chicken Fingers take you straight back to a childhood favorite meal! With a few simple steps, you can have crispy chicken fingers ready to eat! Coated with crushed potato chips, Panko bread crumbs and chipotle powder, these chicken fingers are equally fun and delicious. Dip them in a homemade chipotle ranch and you are set. You can never go wrong with chicken fingers in my opinion!

Ingredients

Scale

For the chicken fingers:

  • 1 cup finely crushed potato chips
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders
  • Cooking spray

For the chipotle ranch sauce:

  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

Instructions

For the chicken fingers:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the potato chips, Panko bread crumbs, onion powder, chipotle powder and salt. In a separate medium-sized bowl, combine the chicken tenders with the buttermilk until completely coated.
  2. Working with one chicken tender at a time, transfer it from the buttermilk to the breading mixture. Coat and pat all sides of the chicken tender with the breading until completely coated. Set on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and repeat until all of the chicken tenders have been coated.
  3. Evenly spray the tops of all the prepared chicken tenders with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken fingers are golden brown and cooked through.

For the chipotle ranch sauce:

  1. While the chicken fingers cook, prepare the dipping sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, parsley, salt, dill and chipotle powder. Stir in 1 tablespoon of the heavy cream or milk at a time until desired consistency is achieved for dipping.
  2. Serve the crispy baked chipotle chicken fingers with the homemade chipotle ranch sauce and enjoy!

Notes

  • Serve these chicken fingers with the homemade chipotle ranch sauce or other dipping sauce of choice! You can never go wrong with ketchup.
  • Bake some frozen french fries or tater tots on a separate pan at the same time as the chicken fingers and you’ll have a complete meal ready to go!
