Meet Me & Get in Touch

Hey there! My name is Kate, but I go by KJ around here. Welcome to my little corner of KJ & Company! Here you will find simple, yet delicious recipes geared toward the home cook, tips and tricks to make life a little more comfortable and plenty of coffee and puppy snuggles to go around. I strive to make wholesome meals with easily accessible ingredients that you feel comfortable making in your own kitchen, but am not going to shy away from some indulgences either! I see you: butter, bacon, cookies, cake, oh my!

Where does KJ come from, you ask? Well, let me tell ya! My name is Kate Jacquelyn and you can thank my cousins for starting me out on “KJ” since I was a little girl. Nowadays, if my husband actually calls me “Kate”, then I know its serious business (insert crying-laughing faced emoji here). KJ has always stuck and I love it!

I’m a small-town Nebraska gal and I wouldn’t trade it for a thing. Even though I love to travel, there’s nothing like being home! Our house is filled with constant puppy snuggles (and vacuuming all that dog hair haha), The Food Network playing in the background, a mess in the kitchen from whatever I just made and a bearded husband who is always happy to sample my creations. You can also bank on a fair amount of sass, real life, and the love of Jesus showing us grace and guidance through all areas of our life: the good and the bad.

My passion for cooking started as a little girl. You could always find me glued to the TV watching The Food Network with a pen and paper writing everything down that I could with my Cheeto-coated fingers. Dang-straight I ate that whole bag! Having a food-loving family only made my love for cooking grow deeper. I will cherish forever everything that I have been able to learn from my Grandma and Mom! Food to me is family. It brings everyone together and there is nothing better than seeing the smiles on the faces of the family and friends gathered around you eating what you’ve prepared.

5 Random Facts About Me:

1. I’ve been with my husband since we were 14. I was 19 and he was 20 when we got married.

2. Terrified of the “Three T’s”: Tornadoes, Ticks and Toilets (you better believe if there’s an over-flowing toilet I’m running the other way)

3. I can blow my nose with one hand – I consider this a life skill

4. I’m the crazy person who loves Winter

5. I can’t do a sumersault to save my life

I’d love to hear from you! Message me with any questions, comments or recipe requests that you may have! Brownie points for including a funny fact about yourself so I’m not all alone here 🙂
