Ground Beef

A cheeseburger wouldn’t be a burger without ground beef. So it’s an important layer to have! When I think of a cheeseburger there’s a couple condiments that come to mind: ketchup and mustard. Simmering the ground beef together with ketchup and mustard is just the way to do it for these sliders! I know it may seem odd, but think of it like a sloppy joe situation, but a cheeseburger edition! Cooking the ground beef on the stovetop is the only cooking required before assembling the sliders and baking them to golden brown perfection. So worth it!

Slider Layers

After the Hawaiian rolls (party pack size) have been sliced in half, it’s time to get to layering all the goodies together! Start off with a smear of mayo across the bottom. Trust me on this one! It help adds to the creaminess and moisture of the sliders. You really don’t taste it!

Next up is the ground beef mixture that was prepared. Spread an even layer across the bottom rolls and top with dill pickle slices.

A layer of cheese gets put on next, followed by the top layer of the rolls!

Finally, a garlic butter is poured all over the top of the prepared sliders. It gets into every nook and cranny and helps the sliders bake up beautifully. Finger-lickin’ good!

Let’s Talk Cheese

Cheeseburgers need, well, cheese! Hands down the winner is: American cheese! I know, I know, it can get a bad wrap, but it truly is what makes a classic cheeseburger a cheeseburger. It’s creamy and melts perfectly. Adding just the right amount of cheese decadence to these sliders. If you don’t have American cheese slices on hand, Velveeta or cheddar cheese slices.

How to Serve

Not only are these Cheeseburger Sliders fun to make, but they are even more fun to eat! Dangerously addicting and perfect for so many different occasions. Here’s some ways to serve:

  • Appetizers – slice them up and let guests dig in!
  • Game day/Parties – how fun would these be to gobble down during the game? The perfect party food!
  • Lunch – surprisingly, these sliders re-heat like a dream. Talk about the perfect meal-prep option!
  • Dinner – a fun twist on a classic cheeseburger to put down on the dinner table. This would be a family dinner that I would be all about!

Description

Cheeseburger Sliders are a fun twist on a classic cheeseburger! Hawaiian rolls are layered together with a saucy ground beef mixture, classic dill pickles, creamy American cheese and smothered with a buttery sauce. The result is a luscious, golden brown cheeseburger slider that you won’t be able to keep your hands off of!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 24 pack Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 8 oz dill pickle slices
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Add the ground beef to a medium-sized skillet over medium heat to sauté and brown, about 8-10 minutes until browned and crumbled. Add in the ketchup and the mustard and stir to combine. Remove from the heat.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half into a 9×13 baking pan. Spread the mayo evenly across the bottom half. Evenly spread the ground beef across the top of the mayo layer.
  3. Add on a layer of the dill pickle slices followed by an even layer of the American cheese slices. Top with the top half of the Hawaiian rolls. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the onion powder. Pour and brush over the top of the prepared sliders until completely covered.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the tops of the sliders are golden brown. Enjoy!
