Brown Butter Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are a classic cookie with a delicious twist. Brown butter is whipped into the cookie dough base to add a toffee-like flavor that is irresistible. Add in some oats, raisins and a hint of cinnamon to make a drool-worthy cookie!
What is Brown Butter?
If you haven’t tried out brown butter yet, now’s the time! When you allow a stick of butter to melt down over low heat and turn slightly brown and frothy, that creates brown butter! It does require you to keep a close watch, though, as it can quickly turn from brown butter to blackened butter. Nobody wants blackened butter cookies.
After you have your brown butter melted down, allow it to cool back to room temperature and slightly harden. Then, you can whip it up with another regular stick of softened butter for your cookies!
Let’s Talk Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Now, if you are like me, an oatmeal raisin cookie may not be your first choice when selecting which cookie to eat. My first choice will always be a chocolate chip cookie, but that doesn’t mean that oatmeal raisin cookies need to be kicked to the side!
Especially with the addition of brown butter. It really helps take these oatmeal raisin cookies to the next level! Since brown butter has a slight toffee-like flavor, it matches perfectly with the oats. Then, the raisins help add a pop of flavor and brightness!
To help make these cookies even more special, I used a large cookie scoop vs. a medium-sized cookie scoop. It helps them stay thick and fluffy! But, you could certainly use either or.
Bake up a batch of these cookies for a weekend treat. a buttery baking weekday or just to make your house smell amazing and your stomachs happy.
