Description
Apple Crumb Pie is a warm and delicious dessert! A buttery pie crust is filled full of juicy apples that have been tossed with sugars and spices. Topped with a cookie-like crumb, the pie is baked until golden brown and bubbly. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the best apple pie bite!

For the filling:
- 6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/2 inch thick slices
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 pie crust round
For the topping:
- 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, melted
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
For the filling:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl combine the apple slices, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, flour and salt. Toss together to coat.
- Fit the pie crust into the bottom of a standard pie plate, crimping the edges of the pie crust to make decorative. Pour the prepared filling into the pie crust and make sure that the apples are flat and filling every space within the pie crust.
For the topping:
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, sugar, baking soda and almond extract until a crumble forms. Evenly top the prepared pie with the crumb topping.
- Place the pie on top of a baking sheet (in case of bubbling over) and bake for 1 hour, 15 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow the pie to rest and cool before slicing it right away so that it has time to set. The pie can be made 1-2 days in advance to be able to rest and re-heated slightly to serve warm. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
Notes
- Store bought or a homemade pie crust can be used. About a 12-inch round.
- Vanilla or almond extract can be used for the crumb topping
- Allow the pie to rest and cool before slicing so that it has a chance to set. Can be made 1-2 days in advance.
