Surprise Pot Pies

So, let me tell ya about our Saturday night. We’ve become great friends with an amazing couple who are always a blast to hang out with. When you find a couple who have the same opinions on how your Instagram profile should be the perfect little package and everything should flow coherently (ok, mainly us girls – but still), and you all enjoy the same hobbies it’s like angel tears … or Red Bull. Oh, and they love Jesus – how more perfect can they be?!

So there was a birthday, and John and I had the whole day to think up something great for these two. Meeting up with them for dinner, I had to get rolling on what I was going to make. Here was our game plan:

  • Surprise them with a picnic with amazing food such as pot pies – homemade with love and leftover ingredients from the Harvest Roasted Chicken we served at our Sip N Sniff party (use those leftovers!)
  • Give them a photo shoot so that they can have more pictures together ( she is an AMAZING photographer so she is always on the other side of the camera )
  • Have it be golden hour – can you have it be any other way? No.
  • End the night around a bonfire with friends and laughter

In order for us to execute this correctly, they only knew they were coming out for a bonfire and to dress appropriately. The fact that they matched on what they were wearing means they must be dating or something ?. Yes, I had to lie to her face when she asked me what the plans were for the night, but it was worth it! It was so much fun for John and I to actually be able to pull this off and not give anything away. They were actually told they would just be eating hot dogs at the bonfire, because I was too tired from cooking the night before. Surprise! Leighton and Haley you have been a blast to be able to get to know, and we are blessed to call you our friends! Here’s to many more pot pies and perfect Instagram pictures.
